Position:	Property Adjuster
Reports To:	Claims Supervisor

Overall Purpose and Main Objectives:	This position is accountable for investigating and settling claims fairly and equitably within assigned limits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:	* Ability to complete estimates based on information provided. * Investigates assigned claims to determine applicable coverage within policy terms and conditions. Compiles and interprets documentation, logs claim information, and develops files by obtaining information from the insured, the claimant or other sources. * Determines extent of damages, making necessary referrals to appraisers or independent/staff adjusters. Develops information relative to subrogation or refers claims if the facts and risk associated are questionable. * Analyzes information obtained in order to evaluate and adjust claims within the delegated limit of authority. Maintains diary, proper reserves, and reviews files frequently to ensure quality of documentation and proper decision making. Negotiates final settlements in conjunction with the insured, the claimant, and attorneys. Refers claims exceeding personal settlement authority to supervisor with recommendation. * Communicates settlement details to the insured, agent or other parties.
Required Knowledge and Experience:	* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent business experience * 3 - 5 years' experience in settling property/casualty claims * Good written and oral communication skills * Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Proficient in Xactimate or other estimating software. * State license required * Good analytical skills
Job Requirements:	* Regular attendance is required to perform the essential duties and responsibilities of this position * Normal office environment * Some overnight travel may be required * Some nights and weekends may be required as projects warrant
